$100 Laptop

There was a lot of interest in the $100 Laptop that Glenn mentioned during our presentation today.

The laptops are no longer available for you to own, but you can give to the project here.
However, Intel developed the Classmate PC that has a similar look...and ASUS produced the Eee that is also interesting.

Both laptops were produced in response to MIT's XO and are reviewed here.

MAKING A SLIDE SHOW

Nina Williams teaches a student how to quickly create a slide show. The following photos were posted during the seminar to illustrate how a blog can be used for others to share in the classroom experience extemporaineously.

Here a student is using the smart board in a geography lesson. None of the attendees had prior experience using the smart board.

CEFPI SEMINAR - THE WHY, THE HOW, AND THE EXPERIENCE OF CLASSROOM TECHNOLOGY

This interactive, classroom like seminar will: make the case for technology integration in the classroom; provide drawings, specifications, & costs for the installation; and finally give the participant the hands on experience of being a student in a classroom with integrated technology.

Mr. Malone will set the stage by making the case for the integration of technology in the classroom by taking the participants through historical and recent developments in technology and illustrating student’s participation in a global society driven by the ever increasing pace of technology. He will introduce participants to a world in which students are the natives and we are, at best, the immigrants.

Mr. Fyles will provide participants with the hands on information on how to integrate a basic pallet of technology into the classroom. He will share drawings, specifications, and costs. The room in which the seminar will be conducted will be a fully functional, typical, technology enabled classroom which will allow participants to see all the devices, normally hidden from view inside the walls of the room.

Nina Williams, one of the Puyallup School District’s Instructional Coaches will conduct a class session with participants. This will allow participants to experience the technology enabled classroom from a student perspective.
